What do you do?

We are a nonprofit organization that provides services to cancer survivors who are currently under treatment. We assist with bill pay, groceries, and medical co-pay as resources are provided. Our signature of giving is centered around a personalized gift basket that is personally delivered to the survivor.

What inspired you to start your business?

My personal experience with breast cancer.

What's special about your business?

We make a personal connection with each and every survivor.

What have been the high and low points of being a business owner?

Seeing what impact we make on cancer survivors just by following our mission. Low points include watching those cancer survivors whom we have built relationships with losing their battle with cancer.

What is your relationship with SCORE? SCORE client What influenced you to seek help from SCORE?

Attending a conference and learning the various resources that SCORE has to offer.

How SCORE helped.

SCORE mentor Mrs. Jeanine Banks (Boca Chapter) has been an inspiration in assisting me with structuring the foundation. She has provided so many resources to help take the foundation to the next level. She is consistent and believes in following up with me to make sure tasks are completed. I always recommend SCORE to my business networks. The virtual workshops, classes such as QuickBooks, etc, and conferences have enhanced my knowledge from a business perspective. I know without organizations such as SCORE, I would not be as successful as I am today with this nonprofit organization.

What's great about my mentor?

She is compassionate, personable, and attentive. To connect with someone as thorough and detailed as Jeanine is a wonderful experience. I am thankful to have her as a mentor and she has introduced me to other mentors as well.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting a small business?

You must be in it to win it and don't give up or get discouraged. Remember to stay focused, and follow the mission, and your vision will grow.

What have you learned from your experiences as a business owner?

The compassion you have determines your level of success.
