SCORE Denver Featured in Nationwide Study
NerdWallet recognizes the organization’s work in growing local businesses
San Francisco, CA (January 10, 2014) – NerdWallet, a consumer advocacy website, has recognized SCORE Denver for its commitment to developing entrepreneurs in a study that found Denver as one of the best places for job seekers in the nation.
As many people are still searching for employment in this recovering economy, NerdWallet wanted to give consumers a look at the current job market. The study looked at median income, monthly homeowner costs, population growth, and unemployment rates.
NerdWallet ranked Denver as the fourth best place in the country for job seekers. The city has an unemployment rate of 5.8 percent, and its population grew by 4.9 percent between 2010 and 2012. Key employers include big companies such as HealthONE Corporation and IBM, while organizations such as SCORE Denver are helping build up the area’s smaller employers.
SCORE Denver helps entrepreneurs and small business owners either start a new business or expand an existing one. The non-profit organization offers mentoring and training through seminars, workshops, and one-on-one counseling.
“SCORE Denver is an invaluable resource to local entrepreneurs,” said NerdWallet analyst Divya Raghavan. “Its league of retired entrepreneurs and executives offers a wealth of information to younger businesspeople looking to help build the local economy.”
